Is this really a scam???How do they do it...my family and friends here in the Philippines have been e-mailed and some of them replied...they were replied by this letter again and agin instructing them as to what to do next...but I'm a sceptic so I need to know how does this scam work so I can warn them ASAP.Thank you!

To answer Sam, the scam is they will eventually write you and tell you to send money to process your work visa. No reputable company asks you to send hem money for anything if it is a legiimate job offer.

I got this mail from Sonangol Oil and this was my appointment letter but they are demanding Be informed that cost of processing of all your documents and delivery as charges by the ministry is 620 pounds which amounted to 48,500 rupees in India currency. This consulation charges covers your british ticket flight and visa, immigration papers, work permit papers and every other itinearies needed to cover your round trip to your place of work appointment.

Just let me know is this a real company or not.

(1.0) SONANGOL OIL CORPORATION and Partners has the mandate to procure technical and expatriate labour to complement local personnel and contractors in series of project presently about to commence by Esso Exploration United Kingdom/Angola Ltd, B.P Exploration [Angola] Ltd, ENI Angola Exploration B.V, Station oil Angola and Esso Exploration.

SONANGOL OIL CORPORATION having gone through the curriculum vitae/resume of contacted expatriates recommended for the project have found you qualified and decided to invite you as one of the expatriates to start work as soon as possible.

(1.1) All operations will be reported directly to the Project Administrator of the Esso Exploration United Kingdom/Angola through Sonangol and B.P Exploration [Angola] Ltd. All personnel shall be responsible to the Esso Exploration UK/Angola series.
The programme is a bench mark projects with Esso Exploration and partners that have set world record circle times with the lowest unit costs for project of this size and complexity. The project is about drilling for oil in Craigovan Island United Kingdom And Angola's $3..........5billion Kiomba C and D project, 322 kilometers offshore.
The project concern is targeted at producing more than 550,000 barrels per day.....
Indeed the Angolan fields, Kiomba A, B,C and , have a combined Two billion estimated recoverable crude oil deposit.

(2.0) JOB POSITION TITLE OFFERED: (PROJECT
Management Analyst ) FIELD OPERATIONS).!


(2.1) Job Description:

· In line with operations in the oil and gas sector.

· Ensure compliance with plans and specifications.

· Implement, monitor, and maintain on site programs to verify compliance with local, state and federal standards with regards to environmental, wild-life, and other sensitive issues.

· Communicate professionally and effectively with consultant inspectors, consulting engineers, contractors, etc. regarding assigned projects..

All operations on Job locations will be reported directly/indirectly to the Project Manager, Esso Exploration through the Project Administrator of Sonangol United Kingdom.
Expatriate must have ability to work under pressure, while experience of team building or supervision will be an advantage.

SONANGOL OIL CORPORATION high quality performance, and you will work closely with the Foremen to ensure the continuous adherence of this along with the existing processes, and then to develop them.

You will be working very closely with mechanicals and engineers at all levels, so excellent communication skills are a must.


All contracts are designed to last for a span of 4 years and 7 months( 56 Calender months ) and liable to upward review yearly.

(2.2) JOB LOCATION:

The Programmed will be carried out within the Kizomba C and D project site, 322 kilometers offshore and other Offshore and Onshore facilities and Human resources department to ease the facilitation of projects take off in United Kingdom/Angola.

PLACE TO WORK AS SELECTED AND NEEDED MOST BY THE COMPANY BOARD OF
DIRECTORS: (LONDON)

(3.0) WORK PERIODS:!

Mondays through Fridays, Time: 8.00am to 4.00pm with break period between 12.00noon to 2.00pm. Expatriates are entitled to a one (1)month paid home leave......

Saturday AND Sunday: General work free day. ( Known as public Holiday. )

(3.1) SALARY INDICATION: !

Salary Per Month - 15,560 Pounds. EXCLUDING OTHER MONTHLY BENEFICIARY INCENTIVES.

(3.2) ALLOWANCES:

Hazard/Inconveniences allowance! 25% of Basic salary.

Entertainment allowance! 20% of Basic salary.
All allowances are paid weekly and locally in Great British currency in its US Dollar equivalent at the existing exchange rate.

(4.0) PAID HOME LEAVE:

All expatriates are entitled to a one(1) month paid home leave, which can be taken once at a time or two (2) weeks apart one different period.
All expatriates shall be entitled to a leave allowance (Great British Currency ) of an additional (100% percent) of their basic salary.

Free to and fro tickets to cover the span of their home leave twice yearly.

*10% allowances on leave period.

(5.0) SAFETY AND SECURITY:!

Safety and Security of personnel Local/Foreign) and Facilities on Job Locations and Communities are no small issue, and have been seriously considered to ensure and assure hitch free operations.
All operations on Job Location are designed to adhere strictly to the Health Safety and Environment (HSE) Policy as applicable in the Oil and Gas Sector.

All expatriates are entitling to a free and mandatory safety courses on Job Locations to be delivered by qualified safety and environment experts.
All safety wears shall be provided by the Company at Job Locations e.g. Safety Coveralls, Gloves, Goggles, Helmet and Safety Shoes etc. as applicable in the Oil and Gas Sector...

(6.0) MEDICAL/HEALTH SERVICE FACILITIES AND INSURANCE PLAN FOR FAMILY:

All expatriates shall be entitled to a comprehensive health care service, which are to be administered by Medical Experts on Job Locations.
In a case of emergency situation, an expatriate will be flown to his home country or any country suitable for the best medical attention.
This decision can be influenced by the findings of the Company's medical experts, unless the expatriate in question states otherwise.

After three (3) months of service all expatriates will be entitled to a Health Service Insurance Plan (HSIP) for family. The Health Service Insurance Plan is designed to
cover only three (3) members of your family.
The Health Service Insurance Plan (HSIP) allowance can also be paid to the expatriates at the rate of US$1,750.00 per family member per month which can be transferred on monthly basis without being subjected to tax. MAXIMUM NUMBERS OF FAMILY (3)

(7.0) FEEDING AND ACCOMMODATION:!

Accommodation and feeding shall be provided for all expatriates for FREE, and by a Five Star Hotel in Metropolitan Area. All accommodation payment has to be paid by the company in questions as regards to every expatriates involved............
All cuisine (Intercontinental/Continental) will also be provided by the Company through the services of the assigned hotel.

(7.1) TRANSPORTATION:!

An official vehicle shall be provided on 24 hour daily basis to all expatriate for local transportation.
A round trip flight ticket to cover the span of your contract engagement will be provided and delivered to you on the completion of your relevant travel documents and immigration particulars.

(7.2) ADDITIONAL SERVICES:

Recreational/Sports Facilities shall also be made available at the disposal of all expatriates with no expenses to be incurred.
Laundry and Dry Cleaning Service will also be made available to all expatriates by the company's laundry and dry cleaning unit.

(8.0) TELECOMMUNICATION/INTERNET FACILITIES:

There are standard telecommunication facilities and internet services at the disposal of all expatriates, and same shall be accessible to all personnel (Local/Foreign) without any charge or expenses to be incurred.
Cellular Phones can be obtained by expatriates from the Local dealers/Service Providers in Angola, but must be used in accordance with the safety regulations on Job Locations.

(9.0) FAMILY STATUS ARRANGEMENTS:

Family status arrangements can only be applied after at least (1) months of service. The Application of family status arrangement indicates that an expatriate will be entitled to a free visa and air fare for his wife or spouse or any other family member which is to be provided by the Company through the Traveling Agency/Consultant.

Expatriates who intend to travel with their wife/spouse within the first one (1) months of contract engagement will have the cost of visa and air fare being borne by them through the DIRECTED/DESIGNATED TRAVEL AGENCY and can only be reimburse upon arrival to work station within 72 hrs.

(10.0) Interview on arrival is designed to facilitate a cordial relationship between expatriates and firm as well as the organizational structure with respect to the project scope.
Among reasons for interview on arrival is to establish expatriates area of interest considering the project scope in order to facilitate an efficient division of labor on Job Locations with respect to the organization structure.

(11.0) CLAIMS/ENTITLEMENTS:

All expenses incurred in relation to this Job/Contract Engagement Process is liable to reimbursement within 72hours upon arrival.
Such expenses include cost of obtaining medical certificate, Immunization/shots in the case were an expatriate gets such service from a special or personal doctor. Cost of obtaining Job Contract Engagement papers and Traveling Documents/visa from THE AFFILIATED TRAVEL AGENCY.

A prove of payment in form of an official receipt will facilitates a prompt reimbursement of all claims/expenses Amade by all expatriates.

With respect to the expected time line of the project takes-off. SONANGOL OIL CORPORATED has mandated a reliable agent in LONDON to ensure the processing of all traveling document/immigration particulars etc. in record time with you.

If the conditions stated above are acceptable to you, you are hereby directed to contact the designated travel consultant (with your contact address) to embark on the delivery and processing of your relevant documents/immigration particulars to facilitate your travel to the appointed office given by the company for commencement of work within a shortest time frame.

You are hereby advise at this stage to contact the designated agency for PROCESSING of your contract engagement papers and endorsement as well as commencing the procurement of your relevant travel/immigration papers to enable us ascertain your commitment to the project take-off.

NOTE:

At 5th Dec., 2007. and they had also referred this company name of Riptrax Travel Resource London LTD.company and told me to send a request for work permit visa and documentations which they will help me out and yes I got a mail from them and they had demanded quite a lot of money which I need to think about it and then I thought to check in web if this company is valid or not and just saw this site but when I click to contact us then your email id came out and it is not a same id which I got it so I thought to first check it out if it is true or not and then I can proceed.
